Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann invited President Droupadi Murmu to join the grand celebrations of Guru Teg Bahadur’s martyrdom day at Anandpur Sahib this November. The month-long events began on October 25 with prayers at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj. Mann and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal took part in the ceremony.
From November 1 to 18, each district in Punjab will host light-and-sound shows showing the Guru’s life and teachings. The state will also hold kirtan darbars in major towns and in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. On November 19, a nagar kirtan will start from Srinagar with hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits. Three more processions will begin from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Faridkot, and Gurdaspur. All will reach Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
The final celebration of Guru Teg Bahadur’s martyrdom day will take place from November 23 to 25 at Anandpur Sahib. Events include an interfaith conference, cultural programs, and a special “tent city” called Chakk Nanaki for pilgrims. On November 24, the Punjab Assembly will meet at Anandpur Sahib to honour the Guru’s sacrifice for faith and freedom.
