Rajasthan Border Drone Drug Seizure has exposed fresh cross-border drug smuggling along the India–Pakistan frontier. Security forces seized heroin worth nearly Rs 20 crore near the international border in Sriganganagar district late Thursday night.
Officials said a drone entered Indian territory from Pakistan and dropped a consignment of narcotics. After delivering the payload, the drone tried to return. It lost control and crashed in a field near village 15 KND in the Rawla police station area.
Border Security Force personnel and local police acted quickly after receiving inputs. A joint operation led to the recovery of the crashed drone and four packets of heroin. The total weight of the seized narcotics exceeded four kilograms.
Anupgarh Circle Officer Prashant Kaushik said the heroin carries an estimated international market value of Rs 20 crore. Security teams seized the packets and launched an intensive search in nearby areas. Officials suspect links to Punjab-based drug networks, whose operatives may have reached the region to collect the consignment.
Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan confirmed that three suspects have been detained for questioning. Teams are examining the drone’s route, technical features, and launch point.
Officials noted that Pakistani drone activity had slowed after Operation Sindoor. However, recent months have seen a renewed rise, prompting heightened surveillance along the Rajasthan border.
