A male tiger from Tadoba that traveled across three States and swam across two rivers was safely tranquilised in East Godavari district on Friday evening, forest officials said. The tiger was found in a cattle shed at Kurmapuram villageafter a long journey of 53 days.
Officials said the tiger moved through forest corridors as well as areas where people live. Despite this, the animal did not attack any human during its journey, which surprised and relieved local residents and authorities.
Forest teams closely monitored the tiger’s movement to avoid danger to people and the animal. After tranquilising it, officials confirmed that the tiger is in stable condition and under medical care.
A decision has not yet been taken on whether the tiger will be shifted to a zoo or a rescue centre. Forest officials praised the coordinated effort that helped safely capture the animal without harm.
