Tarn Taran district witnessed a shocking murder on Saturday when two unidentified bike-borne assailants shot dead 47-year-old Diljit Singh, son of a former sarpanch, in Bhullar village of Khadoor Sahib. Diljit, who ran a grocery shop, was attacked around 2 pm when the assailants entered the shop and opened indiscriminate fire without any altercation. He died on the spot due to multiple bullet injuries.
The attackers fled immediately on their motorcycle, leaving the village in panic. The victim is survived by his wife and a son who was preparing to go abroad. The family stated they had no enmity and received no threats or ransom calls, deepening the mystery behind the murder.
Police have launched a thorough investigation, examining nearby CCTV footage and forming special teams to trace the suspects. Officials assured that the accused will be arrested soon as multiple angles—including personal rivalry and contract killing—are being probed.
