The Patna Ultra Pods Project will introduce a modern driverless transport system in Bihar’s capital. The project will connect key government offices through a dedicated elevated track, offering quick and convenient travel for officials and visitors. The Patna Ultra Pods Project aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility in the busy Old Secretariat area.
The system will run on a five-kilometre elevated corridor linking major administrative buildings such as Visvesvaraya Bhavan, Vikas Bhavan, the Bihar Legislative Assembly, and the Old Secretariat complex. The project is expected to cost around ₹296 crore and may be completed within about 15 months after final approvals.
Passengers will travel in small capsule-style pods based on Personal Rapid Transit technology. Each pod can carry up to six people and move directly to the selected station without unnecessary stops.
Around 59 pods will operate across nine stations. A new pod may arrive every few seconds, helping thousands of passengers move quickly between offices. Officials believe the system will reduce congestion, cut pollution, and modernize transport in Patna.
