The Tejashwi Yadav land promise has stirred political controversy in Bihar. In the Mahagathbandhan’s manifesto, Tejashwi Yadav announced that sharecroppers would get identity cards and access to schemes like Kisan Credit Cards. Soon, critics began claiming that this Tejashwi Yadav land promise could lead to transferring land ownership from landlords to cultivators.
Senior BJP leader Nishikant Dubey alleged that this move would destroy ancestral property and amend existing sharecropping laws. He warned that the policy might turn government and family-owned lands into public assets.
Meanwhile, senior journalist Kanhaiya Bhelari commented that the inclusion of sharecropping in the manifesto could backfire electorally for Tejashwi. He compared Yadav’s political strategy to a rabbit rushing too fast—urging patience and caution.
This debate highlights how sensitive land and agricultural issues remain in Bihar politics. The manifesto itself does not clearly state any plan for land transfer, but interpretations and fears have made it a heated election topic.
