A day after suffering one of its worst defeats in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) issued its first official reaction on Saturday, calling the setback part of the natural “ups and downs” of public service. The party, which contested 143 seats but won only 25, described itself as a “party of the poor” and vowed to continue raising their issues despite the electoral blow.
In a post on X, the RJD stated, “Public service is an unceasing process, an endless journey. Ups and downs are inevitable. No sorrow in defeat, no arrogance in victory. The Rashtriya Janata Dal is the party of the poor and will continue to raise their voice.”
This election marked RJD’s second worst performance in 15 years, the lowest being the 2010 polls where it secured only 22 seats. Its Mahagathbandhan allies also fared poorly—Congress won six seats, CPI(ML) Liberation two, CPI(M) one, while VIP and CPI failed to open their account. The alliance collectively managed just 34 seats.
Meanwhile, the NDA registered a sweeping victory with over 200 seats. The BJP won 89 seats, JDU 85, while LJP(RV), HAM(S), and RLM added to the alliance’s strong mandate.
