Vande Bharat food worms found in curd and dal served to passengers

A controversy broke out after Vande Bharat food worms were found in meals served to passengers on the Patna–Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express. A passenger noticed worms in curd and dal during dinner and immediately raised a complaint.

The passenger recorded a video of the food. The clip soon went viral on social media. In the video, the passenger questioned the pantry staff about the worms in the meal. Some staff first claimed the particles were saffron. However, the worms were clearly visible moving in the food.

After the complaint about Vande Bharat food worms, authorities started an inquiry. Indian Railways took strict action soon after the investigation.

Officials fined Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ₹10 lakh. The railway department also imposed a ₹50 lakh penalty on the catering vendor. Authorities cancelled the vendor’s contract as well.

Railways said passenger safety and food hygiene remain a top priority. Officials also ordered stricter checks on train catering services.
