Team India announced their squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa on November 23, and fans were quick to notice the absence of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Many were unaware that Hardik has been out of action since suffering a quadriceps injury during India’s Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against Sri Lanka. The injury had also ruled him out of the thrilling final against Pakistan.

According to sources, Hardik has not yet regained full match fitness. The BCCI has made it clear that he must prove his readiness by playing in the domestic Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before being considered for a return to international cricket. Earlier reports suggested he might be included in India’s T20 squad, but selectors decided to wait until he completes his fitness assessment.

Meanwhile, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for workload management ahead of a packed cricket calendar. Hardik’s fans remain hopeful that he will return soon, but for now, the all-rounder continues his recovery phase.
