Why Lalu Yadav’s Family Hesitates to Shift

Hardinge Road bungalow government allotment dispute

The Hardinge Road bungalow has become a major topic in Bihar politics. The Bihar government asked Rabri Devi to leave her old house at 10 Circular Road and move into the Hardinge Road bungalow. The new bungalow is bigger and more modern, but the family does not want to shift.

Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi have lived at Circular Road for almost 19 years. During this time, they improved and modified the house to suit their large family. They say the new bungalow has only six rooms, which may not be enough when the whole family gathers.

There is also another reason. Many leaders who lived in the Hardinge Road bungalow earlier faced political setbacks. Because of this, some RJD workers believe the bungalow carries bad luck. They worry that moving there may affect Tejashwi Yadav and the party’s future.

The government says the Hardinge Road residence is spacious, newly renovated, and the second-largest among ministerial houses. But RJD leaders insist that Circular Road suits their family better. They say they will handle whatever steps the government takes but will not leave their current home easily.

The situation remains tense as both sides wait for the next move.
