The tragic case of a 17-year-old boy dies in custody incident from Nawada has raised deep concern in Bihar. The report says a 17-year-old boy dies in custody at the Kashichak police station after he was taken in connection with a love affair. Sunny Kumar, the teenager, was brought to the police station along with his girlfriend.
The boy’s family claims that Sunny was healthy when he left home. They say he and the girl returned from Bauri village on Wednesday evening, after which a Dial 112 team took them to the police station. His brother Jitendra visited the station later with food but was not allowed to meet Sunny, even after waiting for an hour.
Around midnight, the police reached the family’s home with Sunny’s body. Officers said he died by suicide using a shawl. However, the family alleges he was beaten to death. They also claim that the girl’s brother, a Bihar Police constable, influenced the officers.
Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman has suspended three officials after the initial inquiry found negligence. A forensic team is investigating the exact cause of death. The case has triggered demands for a fair and transparent probe.
