Five MLAs Face Setbacks After Anti-Nitish Move

Bihar political crisis MLAs news update

Five leaders linked to the Bihar political crisis MLAs case failed to return to the Assembly after the 2024 elections. Their attempt to topple the Nitish Kumar government brought serious political and legal trouble. Three MLAs—Mishrilal Yadav, Dilip Rai, and Rashmi Verma—did not get tickets from their parties. Former minister Bima Bharti and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar changed parties but lost by huge margins.

In this Bihar political crisis MLAs case, the police questioned several leaders, their guards, and close associates. They were accused of trying to influence the no-confidence vote with promises of ministerial posts and ₹10 crore each. Evidence of suspicious financial activity also surfaced during the probe.

Bima Bharti lost from Rupauli by over 51,000 votes, while Dr. Sanjeev Kumar lost the Parbatta seat by more than 34,000 votes. Mishrilal Yadav and Rashmi Verma were denied tickets by their party.

Meanwhile, JDU MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar, who filed the FIR, returned to the Assembly with a strong victory. His complaint alleged kidnapping threats against Bima Bharti and Dilip Rai to make them vote for the Grand Alliance.
