PNG Connections in Bihar to Reach Hundreds of Thousands of Homes

PNG connections in Bihar gas pipeline network expansion

The Bihar government has ordered faster work on PNG connections in Bihar so that gas pipelines can reach hundreds of thousands of households across the state. Officials want to expand the network quickly and reduce dependence on LPG cylinders.

The state already has about 99,000 homes connected to piped natural gas, and more than 55,000 houses are ready for connections. Infrastructure is also prepared to supply gas to more than 3.39 lakh additional households in the coming months. The expansion will significantly increase the reach of PNG connections in Bihar.

Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit reviewed the project and asked oil companies to speed up pipeline installation. He warned that authorities will take strict action if companies fail to meet targets or delay the work.

Six energy companies are responsible for the rollout across the state’s 38 districts. These firms include GAIL, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum.

The government says piped natural gas will give households a safer and more convenient fuel option. Officials also believe the project will improve energy infrastructure in Bihar and help manage LPG supply in the future.
