A.P. Cabinet Clears ₹7,387 Crore Amaravati Loan, Approves Road Cess and DA Hike
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a ₹7,387 crore loan to support the development of Amaravati, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building the capital city with a focus on core infrastructure. The Cabinet also cleared the introduction of a 10% road cess on vehicles, aimed at generating additional revenue for road development and maintenance across the State. In a relief to government employees, the Cabinet sanctioned a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), helping staff cope with rising living costs.
At the same meeting, the Chief Minister outlined a broader urban development vision, announcing plans to transform Greater Vijayawada and Greater Tirupati into major urban centres. These cities are expected to be developed with improved transport networks, modern civic amenities, and better urban planning to support economic growth and employment. The decisions reflect the government’s twin focus on strengthening public finances and accelerating planned urbanisation to drive long-term development in Andhra Pradesh
