Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 11, 2026, demanded a probe by a neutral agency into the alleged gold theft case linked to the Sabarimala temple. Addressing party workers in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Shah accused the Kerala government of failing to ensure transparency in the investigation and questioned the credibility of the ongoing probe.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party would launch statewide protests and conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns to highlight the issue. “This is democracy, Vijayan, and you must order a neutral agency probe,” Mr. Shah said, asserting that the matter involved public faith and accountability.
The Union Home Minister alleged that the incident had shaken the confidence of devotees and demanded that the truth be brought out through an independent investigation. He maintained that only a neutral agency could ensure justice and restore public trust.
Mr. Shah reiterated that the BJP would continue its agitation until a fair and impartial probe was ordered, stressing that no government was above public scrutiny.
