The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a key administrative decision in the health sector. Dr. G. Raghunandan has been appointed as the in-charge Director of Medical Education (DME). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved the decision on Friday.
This move comes as the current DME, Dr. DSVL Narasimham, is set to retire tomorrow. Following his retirement, Dr. Raghunandan will formally assume charge. Officials said the appointment was made to ensure smooth continuity of medical education administration in the state.
Dr. Raghunandan earlier worked as an Associate Professor at Kurnool Medical College. At present, he is serving as the Director of Medical Education (Academic) in Andhra Pradesh. His experience in handling academic affairs and reputation for effective supervision have been widely acknowledged.
With this new responsibility, Dr. Raghunandan will oversee key aspects of medical education in the state. His appointment is seen as an effort by the government to strengthen the medical education framework and maintain stability in the department. Observers believe his academic background and administrative skills will help address challenges in medical training and institutions.
