The Bayyaram PayNearby App Fraud has surfaced in agency villages of Bayyaram mandal in Warangal district. Reports say mini-bank operators used the PayNearby app to withdraw money illegally from poor villagers’ bank accounts. The Bayyaram PayNearby App Fraud allegedly involved biometric transactions that allowed operators to access funds without the full knowledge of account holders.
Victims say operators asked them to place fingerprints several times on biometric devices while processing withdrawals. Many villagers later discovered that larger amounts were withdrawn from their accounts than what they actually received. Illiterate people, elderly residents, farmers, and persons with disabilities became the main targets of the fraud.
The scam came to light after a woman from Ramachandrapuram village checked her bank statement and found that more money had been withdrawn than what she received. After questioning the operator, part of the money was returned.
After the incident became public, many villagers rushed to banks and mini banking centres to verify their account statements. Locals now demand strict action and better monitoring of rural banking services to prevent such frauds.
