Bihar Police STF Encounters: 4 Criminals Killed, 9 Injured in 2026

Bihar Police STF Encounters operation against criminals in 2026

Bihar Police STF Encounters have increased in recent months as the Special Task Force intensifies its crackdown on criminals across the state. Officials say Bihar Police STF Encounters now occur about three times every month, showing the police’s aggressive approach to controlling crime.

During the first four months of 2026, police reported 12 encounters between officers and criminals. Four criminals died in these operations, while nine suspects were shot in the leg when they tried to escape. Police used this method to stop them and take them into custody.

One major operation took place in Vaishali on February 6. Police killed notorious criminal Prince alias Abhijeet during the encounter. He had more than 30 criminal cases against him, including robbery, murder, and dacoity. Authorities had announced a reward of ₹2 lakh for his arrest.

In another incident on March 17 in Motihari, police shot dead Kundan Thakur and Priyansh Dubey during a gunfight. An STF jawan suffered serious injuries in the exchange of fire and later died during treatment.

Police also killed Ramdhani Yadav on April 29. He was accused of killing a municipal executive officer in Sultanpur.

The STF has also arrested 730 criminals so far this year, including several wanted offenders and suspected Naxal operatives.
