Ministerial Services Union Renews Push for Revival of All Allowances

Ministerial Services Union Renews Push

The Punjab State Ministerial Services Union has renewed its demand for the revival of all allowances for government employees. The newly elected district committee raised these demands during a meeting held in Fazilka. State president Gurnam Singh Virk and Excise Department Employees Union president Khushkaranpreet Singh supervised the session and encouraged the members to speak openly.

District president Sunil Kumar Kamboj and general secretary Sukhdev Chand Kamboj said the Union aims to work with stronger commitment and fresh motivation. They stressed that employees across Punjab face continuous financial challenges. These challenges grow every year due to rising prices and incomplete government decisions. Therefore, the Union wants quick action on long-pending demands.

The Union demanded the revival of Border Area Allowance, Rural Area Allowance, and FTA Allowance. These allowances help employees posted in remote, high-pressure, or border-sensitive regions. The leaders said many employees work in such areas without adequate financial support.

Another major demand is the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees recruited after January 1, 2004. The members said the present system does not give long-term security to employees. They want the government to issue a notification without delay.

The committee also raised the issue of pending Dearness Allowance (DA). Employees say that rising inflation makes DA essential. The Union also asked the government to remove the Central 7th Pay Commission rules for employees recruited after July 17, 2020. Instead, they want complete implementation of Punjab’s 6th Pay Commission, along with full salary and arrears during the probation period.

Promotions for ministerial employees remain another key concern. Many employees complete years of service without receiving the next rank. The Union said this delay creates stress and demotivates staff.

The meeting concluded with a clear message: the Union will continue its struggle until the government fulfills every demand. The leaders said they stand united and will intensify their efforts if required.
