During the winter session of Parliament, Om Birla took a dig at Pappu Yadav. The comment came when Pappu Yadav raised the issue of fake news and the role of social media. Om Birla took a dig at Pappu Yadav as he spoke about global models from Brazil, America, Singapore, and Finland.
Pappu Yadav said that social media affects daily life in many ways. He added that some apps create division in society based on caste, religion, language, and gender. He argued that problems should be solved early, not after lives are damaged.
As Yadav continued speaking, Birla interrupted him with a smile. He said, “These days you leave Bihar and talk about international issues.” The House responded with laughter. Birla then asked him to complete his question.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav replied that the government has brought new rules. He said that action now happens within 36 hours. He also mentioned a new rule to tackle AI-based deepfake content. He stated that the government aims to protect democracy while also supporting free expression.
