In Bihar, a bitter feud has erupted between RJD and Congress over five crucial seats — Baisi, Bahadurganj, Raniganj, Kahalgaon, and Saharsa. The two allies, part of the Grand Alliance, are struggling to finalize seat-sharing for the upcoming Bihar elections. Neither party is ready to give up a single seat, complicating talks.
In 2020, RJD contested Raniganj, Saharsa, and Baisi, while Congress fielded candidates in Kahalgaon and Bahadurganj. Both lost, but now RJD wants Congress to surrender Kahalgaon and Bahadurganj, while Congress demands Raniganj, Saharsa, and Baisi.
The feud deepened when Tejashwi Yadav launched his campaign from Kahalgaon without consulting Congress, angering its leaders. Differences also persist over the Chief Minister candidate, as RJD insists on Tejashwi Yadav, but Congress fears it could alienate non-Yadav OBC voters.
Despite the rift, Congress has finalized 25 candidates, including five MLAs. The alliance’s future now depends on how both parties handle this seat-sharing standoff.
