Steel Plant Victims Compensation was announced after the tragic accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh. The incident claimed the lives of nine workers, while several others suffered injuries and are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy visited the accident site late at night along with Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu. The leaders inspected the affected area and reviewed details of the accident with plant officials.
After the visit, Kumaraswamy announced financial assistance for the victims’ families. He said the families of workers who lost their lives would receive Rs 25 lakh each as compensation. Workers who suffered serious injuries will receive Rs 10 lakh each.
The minister also assured employment to one eligible family member of each deceased worker. He said the government has ordered an inquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the accident.
Kumaraswamy directed officials to ensure the injured workers receive the best possible medical treatment and support during their recovery.
