Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident Victims: DNA Tests May Take Four Days for Identification

Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident Victims identification process at KGH Hospital

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident Victims tragedy has left eight workers dead after molten steel fell on them during a major industrial accident. The incident shocked workers and residents, as the victims suffered severe burns that made identification extremely difficult.

Authorities shifted the bodies to KGH Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Family members have identified only two victims so far, Bhanu Kumar and Ramana. Doctors said the remaining bodies were badly burnt and cannot be recognized visually.

Hospital officials plan to conduct DNA tests to confirm the identities of the remaining victims. Doctors will collect samples from muscle tissue and bones, including the chest plate bone or thigh bone, for testing. Officials expect the DNA reports to take around four days.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh will visit injured workers and affected families. They will also inspect the accident site at the steel plant and review the situation.
