Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, has urged the global community to study India’s model for ending wars quickly. Speaking at an event in Delhi, he pointed to Operation Sindoor as an example of how conflicts can be concluded once objectives are achieved.

Operation Sindoor began on May 7 after a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 25 civilians. India’s armed forces struck nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Over 100 terrorists were killed, while Indian air defences intercepted Pakistani drones and missiles.

Singh explained that India’s goal was clear—anti-terror action. Once this was achieved, there was no reason to prolong the fight. “Why should we carry on if our objectives have been met? Any conflict comes with a heavy cost,” he said.

The offensive ended on May 10 with a ceasefire, after India warned Pakistan of stronger retaliation if attacks continued. The operation caused no significant damage on the Indian side but dealt a major blow to terror groups.

While the quick ceasefire faced political criticism, Singh stressed that prolonging wars wastes resources and hurts preparedness for future missions as well as economic growth.
