Bihar will soon get its second access-controlled expressway, connecting Patna to Sasaram through Bhojpur. The 120 km highway will be built by Oman’s Galfar Engineering and Construction Company. After Darbhanga, this will be Bihar’s second major expressway designed to cut travel time in half.
The project will move forward in two phases. Phase one covers a 46 km stretch from Patna to Bhojpur. Phase two will extend 74 km from Arrah to Sasaram. Once complete, the travel time between Patna and Sasaram will reduce from four hours to just two hours.
The expressway will also improve road access to Arwal, Shahabad, and nearby areas. It will provide better links to GT Road, Banaras, and several national highways including NH-19, NH-319, NH-922, NH-131J, and NH-120.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said financial closure is nearly complete, and construction is set to begin soon. The target for completion is 2028.
This greenfield project is expected to improve transport, reduce road accidents, and create smoother connectivity across Patna, Bhojpur, Arwal, Rohtas, and Sasaram districts.
