Siddaramaiah Orders Bengaluru Roads Repair Within Month

Bengaluru road repair order issued; CM Siddaramaiah sets one-month deadline for potholes and repairs.

Bengaluru Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed civic officials to repair the city’s roads within a month. He expressed sharp displeasure at the poor condition of roads and the apathy of officials during a review meeting. Officials were warned to act immediately to close potholes and make roads motorable.

The warning follows BlackBuck’s announcement to move its Bellandur office due to traffic congestion and bad road conditions. CEO Rajesh Yabaji highlighted the infrastructure challenges on social media. However, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the government is “least bothered” by threats from companies.

Siddaramaiah instructed engineers to ensure quality work and strict supervision. He questioned the timing of road projects, asking why works start during monsoon. The newly appointed Greater Bengaluru authority commissioner was asked to conduct regular field inspections.

Officials reported that 14,795 potholes were identified across BBMP zones, with 8,046 remaining. White-topping has been completed on 108 km and asphalt laid on 401 km, with additional works ongoing. A Rs 18 crore budget is allocated for potholes, with Rs 25 crore released for urgent works. Damaged junctions due to BWSSB and Metro works will be redeveloped under the Rs 400 crore Outer Ring Road Project.
