Telangana has emerged as *number one in India* for oil palm cultivation, reflecting the state’s focus on expanding this high-value crop. Since 2021, the Grama Centre has set a five-year target of cultivating *3.22 lakh hectares* of oil palm across nine states.
In Telangana, out of the state’s allocated *1.25 lakh hectares, farmers have already cultivated **78,869 hectares, putting the state at the forefront nationally. Other states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala follow with smaller areas under cultivation, registering **67,727 hectares, **4,946 hectares, and **5,088 hectares*, respectively.
Telangana Minister Tummala stated that the remaining target area will soon be achieved, emphasizing continued support for farmers through modern techniques and incentives. The state’s leadership in oil palm cultivation highlights its commitment to agricultural development, increased farmer income, and boosting oil production, positioning Telangana as a model for crop diversification and sustainable farming practices in the country.
