India Reaffirms Commitment at CFAMM 2025

India reaffirms commitment to Commonwealth values at CFAMM 2025 during UNGA, supporting multilateralism and collective action.

India participated in the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting (CFAMM) 2025, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly. Secretary West Sibi George represented India at the event in New York on September 22.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted India’s commitment to the core principles of the Commonwealth Charter. Sibi George spoke about the need for reform in the Commonwealth to reflect contemporary realities.

Chaired by Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister Toelupe Maoiautele Poumulinuku Onesemo, the meeting gathered foreign ministers from across the Commonwealth. Ministers reiterated support for multilateralism and collective action amid global challenges.

The ministers reviewed progress since the 2024 CHOGM in Samoa and discussed preparations for CHOGM 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda. The Strategic Plan 2025-2030 was endorsed to enhance democratic, economic, and environmental resilience across member states.
