The Punjab Government has launched registration for its universal health insurance scheme in Tarn Taran and Barnala districts. From October 2, all 65 lakh families in the state will be eligible for cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh at more than 500 empanelled hospitals.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced that the scheme has no income criteria. Families only need Aadhaar and voter cards to register and avail benefits. This step is expected to provide major relief to people struggling with rising medical costs.
The scheme ensures every family in Punjab can access quality healthcare without worrying about financial burden. With wide hospital coverage, the government aims to make health services both affordable and accessible across the state.
