A California-based Indian man, Varun Suresh (29), has been charged with murder for allegedly killing David Brimmer (71) after discovering his name on the state’s sex offender registry. The incident occurred at Brimmer’s residence in Fremont, according to court records.
Police reports indicate that Brimmer, who had served nine years in prison for child sexual abuse, was found fatally stabbed in the neck. During questioning, Suresh admitted he had long wanted to kill a sex offender, stating that “all sex offenders deserved to die.”
Court documents reveal that Suresh meticulously planned the attack. Posing as a public accountant, he carried props such as a notebook and coffee to appear legitimate and visited neighbors in advance to avoid suspicion. Upon locating Brimmer’s home, Suresh shook the victim’s hand, said, “I knew I had the right guy,” chased him, and stabbed him in a neighbor’s house. He reportedly told the critically injured Brimmer to “repent” before delivering a fatal throat injury.
Authorities noted that Suresh showed no remorse, describing the act as “honestly really fun,” and claimed society hates pedophiles, so it was his duty to “send them to the gates.” He also admitted he had no plan to flee and intended to call the police after the murder.
This is not Suresh’s first run-in with the law. In 2021, he was arrested for a fake bomb threat, criminal threats, and burglary, claiming he was “hunting” the CEO of Hyatt Hotels because he believed the executive was a pedophile.
Authorities continue to investigate Suresh’s motives and background. The case highlights the dangers of vigilante justice and raises questions about the security and ethical implications of public sex offender registries.
