Amit Kumar, better known as Bachcha Rai, is the key accused in the 2016 Bihar Board toppers scam. This scandal shocked the education system when students like Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shrestha, despite topping exams, failed to answer basic subject questions. Bachcha Rai, then the principal of VR College in Vaishali, was found to be the mastermind. He was jailed, later got bail, and faced ED raids that uncovered cash and land worth crores.
Now, Bachcha Rai has joined Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM party. He has announced himself as AIMIM’s candidate from the Mahua Assembly seat, a hotly contested area where RJD and other parties are strongly competing. Owaisi is expected to address a rally in Mahua on October 6.
The Bihar Board toppers scam remains one of the state’s biggest education scandals. With Bachcha Rai stepping into politics, the controversy is set to return to the spotlight ahead of elections.
