Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the newly restored Bathukamma Kunta in Amberpet this Sunday. The historic water body, which had been encroached and filled with soil over time, has been rejuvenated by the Hyderabad Development Authority (HyDRA) at an estimated cost of ₹7 crore.
Residents welcomed the restoration, noting that the revitalized Bathukamma Kunta helped mitigate flooding issues during recent heavy rains. Officials emphasized that the project will enhance groundwater recharge while offering a scenic and safe space for the upcoming Bathukamma festival celebrations.
The restoration is part of the government’s larger initiative to preserve lakes and urban water bodies across Hyderabad, combining environmental conservation with cultural heritage preservation. CM Revanth Reddy’s presence at the inauguration highlights the administration’s commitment to ensuring that traditional festivals like Bathukamma are celebrated in a clean, vibrant, and sustainable environment for the benefit of both current and future generations.
