A drone and fireworks show in Liuyang, China, went horribly wrong when dozens of drones failed mid-air and burst into flames. The accident happened on October 2 during the “October: The Sound of Blooming Flowers” event at the Sky Theatre. The show was designed to create a 3D visual spectacle, but technical glitches sent fiery drones crashing down, terrifying the audience.
Videos on social media captured the panic. Spectators lifted chairs over their heads to block falling sparks, while many ran for safety as burning fragments rained from the sky. Officials later confirmed that nobody suffered injuries.
Emergency teams moved fast. They evacuated a one-mile zone around the theatre and deployed extra firefighting units to prevent further danger. Representatives from the Liuyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism said the city’s unusually dry weather may have fueled the fire.
Liuyang is world-famous for its fireworks and drone spectacles, drawing thousands of visitors each year. In January alone, more than 160,000 people gathered there for New Year’s celebrations. This accident has now sparked serious debate about safety standards at large-scale pyrotechnic events.
