The story of Abdul Alim, a young man who rose from being a security guard to a software engineer at Zoho, is touching hearts across social media.
In a viral LinkedIn post, Alim shared that he left home in 2013 with only ₹1,000, out of which he spent ₹800 on a train ticket. With no job or shelter, he spent nearly two months living on the streets.
Eventually, he found work as a security guard at Zoho. During one of his 12-hour shifts, a senior employee struck up a conversation with him. Alim mentioned that he had learned some HTML in school. Impressed, the senior encouraged him to learn more.
After each long shift, Alim met the senior and studied programming. Within eight months, he built a small app that could take user input and visualize it. His mentor showed the app to a manager, who was impressed and offered Alim an interview. Soon after, Alim became a Software Development Engineer at Zoho — without a college degree.
His story has inspired thousands online. Many users praised his determination, saying he proved that true growth comes from passion, persistence, and the hunger to learn.
