During his visit to India, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi claimed that the Taliban has wiped out all terrorist groups from Afghan soil, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. He said no terrorist group controls any part of Afghanistan today and advised Pakistan to adopt the same path of peace.
“Not a single one of them is in Afghanistan now. The Afghanistan we fought in 2021 has transformed,” Muttaqi told NDTV. Speaking from Indian soil, he urged other countries to act against terrorism “like Afghanistan did.”
Muttaqi’s first visit to India came as New Delhi restored full diplomatic relations with Kabul. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced that India will upgrade its Technical Mission in Kabul to an embassy, showing strong interest in Afghanistan’s development.
Muttaqi also accused Pakistan of carrying out a recent blast near the Afghan border, calling it “wrong” and urging dialogue instead of violence. He warned that “testing Afghan courage” would be a mistake.
The minister praised India’s quick aid after the recent earthquake, calling it a “true friend.” He also urged India and Afghanistan to work together with the United States to expand trade and keep all trade routes open.
