HAL Nashik Unit Opens, Can Now Produce 24 Tejas Jets a Year
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a new production facility at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Nashik, Maharashtra, boosting India’s fighter jet manufacturing capacity. The Minister flagged off the first Tejas Mk1A light combat aircraft (LCA) produced at the facility.
With the launch of this new unit, HAL can now roll out up to 24 Tejas jets every year. This is a major step in strengthening India’s defence manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative.
In addition to the Tejas line, Singh also opened HAL’s third production line for fighter aircraft and the second line for the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40), a basic trainer aircraft for the Indian Air Force.
The new facility is expected to speed up delivery of aircraft and support the Air Force’s needs. It also brings job opportunities and growth to the Nashik region.
