One Family, Two Parties, Three Tickets – Arun Kumar’s Jehanabad Story

In Bihar politics, the Arun Kumar family Bihar politics story stands out for its unique twist — one family, two parties, and three tickets. Arun Kumar’s family from Jehanabad has members contesting from both the Janata Dal United (JDU) and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).

Nitish Kumar’s JDU has given a ticket to Arun Kumar’s son, Rituraj Kumar, from the Ghosi seat in Jehanabad. Meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM has chosen Arun’s brother Anil Kumar from Tikari and his nephew Romit Kumar from Atri, both in Gaya district. Anil Kumar, a four-time MLA, is already serving as a HAM representative.

Earlier, Arun Kumar himself was an MP from Jehanabad — once with JDU and twice with Upendra Kushwaha’s RLSP. The family’s presence now spreads across different constituencies within the same alliance. This marks Rituraj’s first election, reflecting the growing influence of the Bhumihar community in Bihar’s political scene.

The Arun Kumar family Bihar politics episode shows how family and community power continue to shape elections in Bihar, blending legacy, loyalty, and strategic alliances.
