US Vice President JD Vance has again criticized illegal immigration, saying it’s “reasonable and acceptable” for Americans to prefer neighbours they share common values with. Speaking on the New York Post’s podcast “Pod Force One with Miranda Devine” on October 29, Vance backed the Trump administration’s strict immigration policies.
He shared an example of landlords renting three-bedroom homes to multiple immigrant families to earn more money. “A family pays $1,000 a month, but if four families of Haitian migrants move in and each pays $1,000, that pushes Americans out of affordable housing,” Vance explained. He said such overcrowding causes tension between locals and newcomers who “don’t speak the same language” or “share the same culture.”
Vance argued that open borders fuel division and blamed the Biden administration for promoting this system. “It’s not wrong for Americans to want neighbours they have something in common with,” he said.
When asked if the Trump administration plans to remove all illegal immigrants, Vance replied, “We’re trying to remove as many as we possibly can.”
Earlier, Vance also accused immigrants of “undercutting American wages” while supporting Trump’s H-1B visa reforms during a speech in Mississippi.
