Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has claimed that Elon Musk played a key role in Donald Trump’s return to the White House. In her memoir “107 Days,” Harris accuses the billionaire of using his wealth and social media power to tilt the 2024 election.
Harris writes that Musk spent at least $288 million to support Trump, especially in swing states that decided the race. “He believed he bought the presidency,” she says, calling it “the most brazen admission of corruption in history.” Musk reportedly hired paid door knockers, boosted Trump’s image on X, and ran a $1 million sweepstakes aimed at voters in key states.
The memoir also details Harris’s strained relationship with Musk, dating back to his clashes with Democrats over labor laws and COVID-19 shutdowns. She argues that his rightward shift began when California tied electric car subsidies to workplace standards.
Harris believes her loss came down to Musk’s influence and misinformation spread on X. Still, she calls Musk a “talented entrepreneur” but credits Tesla’s engineers for much of its success.
She also criticizes President Biden for not inviting Musk to a 2021 White House electric vehicle event, a move she says Musk “never forgave.”
