Private colleges across Telangana reopened today after ending their five-day strike over pending fee reimbursement dues. The breakthrough came after successful discussions with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday.
The colleges had demanded ₹1,500 crore in pending reimbursements. The Deputy CM assured that ₹600 crore had already been released, and another ₹600 crore would be cleared immediately. The remaining ₹300 crore will be settled within days. He also agreed to form a committee including officials and management representatives to review the reimbursement process.
After the meeting, FATHI Association President Nimmaturi Ramesh clarified that no negative comments were made about government officials. He stated that some media outlets had misquoted them and that a clarification letter was already sent to authorities. The association expressed regret for missed exams and promised to reschedule them soon.
FATHI General Secretary Ravi Kumar confirmed the cancellation of the lecturers’ condolence meeting planned for November 8. He reminded that the court had previously ruled lecturers’ protests during the election code period as inappropriate.
