Tension rose in Samastipur, Bihar, after thousands of VVPAT slips were found dumped on a roadside in Sheetalpatti village. Locals saw children playing with the slips and quickly gathered in protest. Political candidates also rushed to the scene, demanding an inquiry into the incident.
District Magistrate Roshan Kushwaha and Superintendent of Police Arvind Pratap Singh reached the area with senior officials. They collected the slips and promised a fair investigation. Kushwaha clarified that the slips were from EVM commissioning and mock polls, not from real voting. He assured that all actual VVPAT slips are sealed in strong rooms under strict three-tier security.
The administration suspended two employees and filed an FIR to trace those responsible. Officials admitted that negligence during disposal led to the problem. They pledged action against anyone found guilty.
JDU candidate Vijay Kumar Chaudhary is contesting from Sarairanjan, where 73.42 percent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase on November 6. Authorities urged citizens to stay calm and trust the investigation.
