The 18th Bihar Assembly elections witnessed a record voter turnout, marking a 9.6% rise from the last election. The key factors behind record voter turnout in Bihar elections were youth-driven campaigns, government schemes, and strong polarization between alliances.
Jansuraj played a crucial role by highlighting youth employment, migration, and better education. This campaign inspired young and first-time voters to participate actively. The opposition also made strong promises such as government jobs for every family and ₹30,000 for women, which attracted large support.
Welfare measures like free electricity and women’s employment schemes boosted trust in the ruling government. Over 15 million women benefited, motivating many to cast their votes.
Another key factor behind record voter turnout in Bihar elections was the sharp political polarization. The NDA and Grand Alliance both intensified their campaigns, resulting in a highly competitive atmosphere. Emotional appeals from senior leaders like Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav further energized loyal voters, making this election one of Bihar’s most engaging contests in history.
