Sergio Gor, 38, has officially assumed his role as the new US Ambassador to India. He took the oath of office at the White House, administered by Vice President J.D. Vance in the Oval Office. President Donald Trump and senior officials attended the ceremony.
Gor thanked President Trump for the opportunity, saying he was “deeply grateful” and ready to strengthen US-India relations. India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, congratulated him and wished him success in New Delhi.
President Trump praised Gor as an “outstanding representative” for the United States. “Being the Ambassador to India is a big deal,” Trump said, expressing full confidence in his appointment.
Before this role, Gor served as the Director of Presidential Personnel. The US Senate confirmed his nomination in October. During his confirmation hearing, Gor called India a key strategic partner and said its progress would shape the region’s future.
He also pledged to boost trade and reduce China’s economic influence through stronger US-India cooperation. “Improving trade ties will make both nations stronger,” Gor said.
