Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the families of those killed in the Delhi blast near the Red Fort on Monday evening.
Posting on X, Netanyahu wrote, “To our dear friend Narendra Modi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time.”
He said that both India and Israel, as ancient civilisations, share the pain of terrorism but remain unbroken in spirit. “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies,” he added.
The blast claimed nine lives and injured 20. Officials said Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed planned multiple attacks across Delhi and nearby cities, targeting landmarks like India Gate and the Gauri Shankar Temple.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Ambassador Reuven Azar also expressed grief, wishing recovery for the injured and praising Indian security forces.
The explosion has triggered a nationwide security alert, with authorities tightening vigilance across major cities.
