In a major post-election shake-up, the Bharatiya Janata Party on November 15 suspended senior leader and former Union Minister RK Singh for alleged anti-party activities. Singh, a former Union Home Secretary and ex-Power Minister in the Modi government, had openly criticised internal corruption, factionalism, and the Election Commission’s handling of law and order during the Bihar Assembly polls. His remarks on violence in Mokama, where a Jan Suraaj supporter was killed, further strained his ties with the party.

Singh’s public appeals urging voters to reject criminal candidates—including some from within the NDA such as Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and gangster-turned-politician Anant Singh—intensified friction, ultimately leading to his suspension. The move reflects BJP’s tightened internal discipline after its sweeping 2025 Bihar victory, while signalling underlying dissent within the party.

Simultaneously, Bihar BJP suspended MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal for anti-party conduct. Ashok Agarwal invited controversy by supporting his son Saurav Agarwal’s VIP candidacy from Katihar, allegedly in defiance of party directives. Both have been asked to respond within a week.

RK Singh also criticised the Election Commission for failing to prevent poll-related violence, calling the Mokama incident a breakdown of governance. Two police officials have been suspended in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav, intensifying demands for accountability.

These actions mark a period of turbulence within the Bihar BJP as the party moves to consolidate control, curb dissent, and reassert organisational discipline following its decisive electoral win.
