Karnataka to Train Women Returning to Workforce in Semiconductor Industry
The Karnataka government has launched a specialised training programme aimed at helping women who have taken career breaks re-enter the workforce, particularly in the rapidly growing semiconductor industry. The initiative is designed for women who stepped away from their professions for several years due to personal, family, or caregiving responsibilities but now wish to resume their careers.
Officials explained that the programme will offer targeted training in chip design, fabrication, testing, and other semiconductor-related skills. It also includes mentorship, career counselling, and placement support to help participants transition smoothly into industry roles.
The initiative aligns with Karnataka’s broader goal of strengthening its semiconductor ecosystem while promoting gender inclusion in high-skill technology sectors. With the State emerging as a hub for semiconductor investment, the government aims to ensure that women returning to work can access new opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the sector’s growth.
