The Bihar election setback has created fresh tension inside the INDIA alliance. Many parties now question the leadership of the Congress. The loss in Bihar has sparked fear that the alliance may break before the coming Uttar Pradesh elections. Parties want clarity, and they want it soon.
The Bihar election setback reduced the Grand Alliance to only 35 seats. Congress won just six seats out of 61 it contested. This poor performance pushed several allies to demand a new seat-sharing plan. Some leaders have even warned that they may leave the alliance.
The Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party have challenged Congress’s leadership for months. They say local issues matter more, and they want a bigger role in decisions. Strategists believe the alliance must settle these disputes before the 2026 and 2027 elections.
The Samajwadi Party openly said that Akhilesh Yadav should lead the INDIA alliance. SP leaders praised his efforts in Bihar and claimed he deserved more respect. JMM also blamed Congress and RJD for ignoring their interests.
AAP has already moved away from Congress. It decided to contest Bihar and Delhi alone. Inside Congress, dissatisfaction is also growing over ticket distribution.
These internal fights may decide the future of the INDIA alliance.
