Maharashtra suicide cases news took a troubling turn after the wife of Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde’s personal assistant was found dead in Mumbai, with her family alleging persistent harassment by her husband. The incident has sparked widespread concern and raised fresh questions about increasing domestic dispute-linked suicides in the state.
The deceased, identified as Gauri Palve, was married to Anant Garje, the personal assistant to Maharashtra’s Animal Husbandry and Environment Minister Pankaja Munde. The couple, who married earlier this year in February, had reportedly been experiencing frequent marital tensions. Palve worked as a doctor in the dental department at the civic-run KEM Hospital.
Police said Gauri was discovered hanging in her Worli residence on Saturday evening. Her family has accused Garje of mentally and physically harassing her, claiming that continuous torture forced her to take the extreme step. They have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and a detailed probe is underway. Investigators are speaking to relatives, colleagues, and neighbours to understand the nature of the dispute between the couple. Police officials stated that all allegations made by the family will be examined carefully.
In another tragic development highlighting Maharashtra suicide cases news, a 13-year-old schoolgirl from Jalna district died after allegedly jumping from the roof of her school building on November 21. Police said initial inquiries are ongoing, and several angles, including emotional stress and academic pressure, are being explored.
Adding to the spate of disturbing incidents, three members of a family were found hanging in their home in Hyderabad the same night, further raising alarm over rising suicide cases in the region.
These incidents have intensified discussions about mental health awareness, domestic violence, and the urgent need for preventive intervention.
