Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on November 24 formally launched the Sardar@150 Unity March in Agartala, dedicating the event to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in recognition of his instrumental role in uniting India. Addressing a large gathering, Saha said the march is more than a ceremonial tribute—it is a clarion call for young Indians to embrace the values of unity, strength, and self-reliance.
Saha praised Patel’s work in integrating more than 500 princely states into independent India, saying that was proof of his vision and steadfast dedication. He also cautioned against “evil forces,” both internal and external, that could threaten the nation’s cohesion, urging youth to stay alert and aligned with the ideals of “Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
The Unity March in Tripura is part of a nationwide campaign under the My Bharat initiative, driven by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The state-level phase runs from October 31 to November 25, with district-level marches planned in all eight districts. Local committees, including youth groups, elected officials, and social organisations, have mobilised to organise the route and accompanying activities.
As part of the march’s broader agenda, participants will take part in cleanliness drives, tree‑planting campaigns under the “Sardar Upvan” initiative, health and yoga camps, and cultural programs. Schools and colleges across Tripura will be hosting debate competitions, street plays, and seminars focused on Sardar Patel’s life and ideas.
Saha urged Tripura’s youth to take up civic responsibilities, strengthen community ties, and contribute actively to national development. He framed the Unity March not just as a salute to history but as a roadmap for the future: a way to weave Patel’s spirit of service, unity, and self‑sufficiency into India’s next generation. The event’s launch at Agartala’s historic Ujjayanta Palace, attended by students, government officials, and community leaders, underscored a broad commitment to this vision.
