India capped off a historic campaign at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics, recording its best-ever performance in shooting with a total of 16 medals. Over 10 days of high-intensity events, Indian shooters delivered extraordinary precision and consistency, bagging 7 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals out of the 39 available — a performance unmatched in the country’s Deaflympics history.
Mahit Sandhu emerged as the standout performer, securing four medals, including two gold and two silver, showcasing exceptional control and mental resilience. Pistol specialists Abhinav Deshwal and Pranjali Prashant Dhumal also delivered stellar results, each clinching two gold medals and one silver, solidifying India’s dominance in pistol events.
Rifle shooter Dhanush Srikanth added two gold medals by winning both the 10m air rifle individual and mixed team events. Meanwhile, Mohammed Murtaza Vania contributed one silver and one bronze, and Komal Milind Waghmare secured two bronze medals.
The medal rush continued with Anuya Prasad triumphing in the women’s 10m air pistol, Shourya Saini earning silver in the 50m 3 positions, and Kushagra Singh Rajawat winning bronze in the 50m rifle prone.
